The rule on file
Minn. Stat. 151.102, subd. 1. One pharmacist may supervise up to 3 technicians, and the pharmacy may add 1 more technician at any given time if at least one certified technician is on duty and counting toward the ratio.
That is the sentence the Minnesota page states. The passages below are what the issuing body served when RxShift read it, kept as a dated record so a pharmacy and its counsel can check the sentence against the source. How a rule is read is decided by people and recorded with its date; no automated check can change a reading. RxShift reports deficiencies against this reading; it does not certify compliance, and nothing here is legal advice.
The recorded passages
Recorded word for word on the read of 2026-10-16. Each week an automated re-check opens every official source named here and confirms each passage is still on the page as served; the mark on each passage is what the newest re-check (2026-10-19) found.

Confirmed by re-check 2026-10-19Subdivision 1. General. A pharmacy technician may assist a pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy by performing tasks that are not reserved to, and do not require the professional judgment of, a licensed pharmacist. A pharmacy technician works under the personal and direct supervision of the pharmacist. A pharmacist may supervise up to three technicians. A pharmacist is responsible for all the work performed by the technicians who are under the supervision of the pharmacist. A pharmacy may exceed the ratio of pharmacy technicians to pharmacists permitted in this subdivision or in rule by a total of one technician at any given time in the pharmacy, provided at least one technician in the pharmacy holds a valid certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board or from another national certification body for pharmacy technicians that requires passage of a nationally recognized, psychometrically valid certification examination for certification as determined by the Board of Pharmacy. The Board of Pharmacy may, by rule, set ratios of technicians to pharmacists greater than three to one for the functions specified in rule.

Every read and every re-check, newest first
A dated read is RxShift reading the issuing body’s text and recording it in a dated report; its public note is repeated here word for word from the updates log. A re-check is the weekly automated comparison of the recorded passages against the live page. People decide every reading; a re-check never changes one.

Minnesota's pharmacist-to-technician ratio is unchanged as of October 16, 2026: under Minn. Stat. 151.102, subd. 1, re-read today from the Office of the Revisor of Statutes, a pharmacist may supervise up to three technicians, and the pharmacy may have one more technician on duty at any given time when at least one technician holds a valid national certification. Minnesota's pharmacist-to-technician ratio is unchanged as of October 15, 2026: under Minn. Stat. 151.102, subd. 1 a pharmacist may supervise up to three technicians, and the pharmacy may have one more technician on duty at any given time when at least one technician holds a valid national certification. The Board of Pharmacy has been discussing technician ratios, but no rule change has been formally proposed, and the statute's limit applies unless the Legislature changes it or the Board adopts a higher ratio by rule for specific functions. Minn. R. 6800.2160 is also unchanged: a pharmacy may not require a pharmacist, intern or technician to work longer than 12 continuous hours per day, and staff working longer than six continuous hours must be allowed a 30-minute uninterrupted break.

Minnesota's pharmacist-to-technician ratio is unchanged as of October 5, 2026: under Minn. Stat. 151.102, subd. 1 a pharmacist may supervise up to three technicians, and the pharmacy may have one more on duty when at least one technician holds a national certification. The Board of Pharmacy is discussing technician ratios, with "technician ratio solutions" on its October 7, 2026 agenda and a task force recommendation to eliminate the ratio or raise it to 1 to 6, but no rule change has been formally proposed, and the statute's limit of three would still apply to most pharmacy work unless the Legislature changed it. Minn. R. 6800.2160 is unchanged: no required shift over 12 continuous hours including breaks, and a 30-minute break for anyone working longer than six continuous hours.

Minnesota's pharmacist-to-technician ratio is unchanged as of September 28, 2026: under Minn. Stat. 151.102, subd. 1 a pharmacist may supervise up to three technicians, and the pharmacy as a whole may have one more on duty when at least one technician holds a valid national certification; registered pharmacist-interns do not count. In August 2026 the Board of Pharmacy placed its technician rule, Minn. R. 6800.3850, including the older 2-to-1 ratio text in subpart 6 that the statute has superseded, on a list of rules to discuss for possible future rulemaking. No rule change has been formally proposed. Minnesota's work-conditions rule, Minn. R. 6800.2160 (no required shift over 12 continuous hours including breaks, and a 30-minute break past six hours), is unchanged and is not on that list.

Minnesota's pharmacist-to-technician ratio is unchanged. Minn. Stat. 151.102, subd. 1 still allows a pharmacist to supervise up to three technicians, with one additional technician for the pharmacy as a whole when at least one technician holds a valid national certification, and registered pharmacist-interns still do not count. Minnesota's separate work-conditions rule, Minn. R. 6800.2160, is also unchanged: no pharmacy may require a pharmacist, pharmacist-intern or pharmacy technician to work longer than 12 continuous hours in a day including breaks, and anyone working more than six continuous hours must be allowed a 30-minute uninterrupted break. No bill or rulemaking to change either was pending as of September 21, 2026.

Minnesota limits pharmacy shifts for everyone, not just pharmacists. Under Minn. R. 6800.2160 a Minnesota pharmacy may not require a pharmacist, pharmacist-intern or pharmacy technician to work longer than 12 continuous hours in a day, and that 12 hours counts the breaks. Anyone in those three roles working longer than six continuous hours must be allowed a 30-minute uninterrupted break, and everyone must get adequate time for a restroom within each four consecutive hours of work. The limits do not apply during an emergency that must be handled to minimise immediate health risks to patients.

Report
A dated report on file for this state.
In Minnesota, a registered pharmacist-intern does not count toward the pharmacist-to-technician ratio, including a graduate intern who has finished the 1,600 internship hours and is waiting to sit the licensing exams. Minn. Stat. 151.01, subd. 15a defines a pharmacy technician as a person "not licensed as a pharmacist or registered as a pharmacist intern," and Minn. R. 6800.5300 keeps an intern's registration in effect until they are licensed as a pharmacist. Minn. R. 6800.3850, subp. 7 says the same thing for interns submitting hours toward the 1,600-hour requirement.

Minnesota's pharmacist-to-technician ratio is unchanged: under Minn. Stat. 151.102, subd. 1, one pharmacist may supervise up to three technicians, and a pharmacy may exceed that by one additional technician at any given time if at least one technician in the pharmacy holds a valid national certification. Two 2026 bills that would have repealed the ratio, SF 5234 and HF 4966, died in committee when the Legislature adjourned on May 18, 2026.

What the re-check results mean
- Confirmed: every recorded passage was still on the issuing body’s page as served that day.
- Mismatch: at least one passage was not found. It is reported as it stands, a person looks, and the rows after it show what followed.
- Not allowed: the issuing body’s site does not permit automated reading, so the rule rests on its dated read, by a person where the page can only be opened in a browser.
- Nothing to match, no baseline: the record on file held no passage the re-check can match, or no report yet qualified as its baseline.
