A fixed ceiling of 4, but you need certification to earn every slot above 2.

Georgia raised its ceiling from 3 to 4 technicians per pharmacist in 2021, and the certification tiers that come with it are easy to build a schedule around wrong: the ceiling itself never moves, but you can’t reach 3 or 4 technicians without enough certified staff on duty to back it up.

The law changed on July 1, 2026. HB 382 (Act 476) amended the statute in two ways that matter for scheduling: technicians working from a remote location no longer count toward the ratio: only technicians in the licensed area of the pharmacy do, and the certification tiers were removed from the statute itself. Those tiers still live in Board of Pharmacy rule 480-15-.03(e), which remains in force and has not yet been updated to match the new law. Until the Board acts, the safe way to schedule is to keep meeting the certification tiers. (The same law also lets closed-door pharmacies apply to the Board for a higher ratio, and raises the intern/extern limit to six in any combination.)
