The rule on file

La. Admin. Code tit. 46, Pt LIII, 907(A)(1) and 709(B). A combined ceiling of 4 support people per pharmacist on duty. Certified pharmacy technicians, pharmacy technician candidates and pharmacy interns all count in the same 4, and no more than 2 of them may be technician candidates.

That is the sentence the Louisiana page states. The passages below are what the issuing body served when RxShift read it, kept as a dated record so a pharmacy and its counsel can check the sentence against the source. How a rule is read is decided by people and recorded with its date; no automated check can change a reading. RxShift reports deficiencies against this reading; it does not certify compliance, and nothing here is legal advice.

The recorded passages

Recorded word for word on the read of 2026-10-12. Each week an automated re-check opens every official source named here and confirms each passage is still on the page as served; the mark on each passage is what the newest re-check (2026-10-19) found.

The record on file for Louisiana holds no passage the automated re-check can match word for word, so this state rests on its dated read of the issuing body’s own page. A matchable record is added on the next full read.

Every read and every re-check, newest first

A dated read is RxShift reading the issuing body’s text and recording it in a dated report; its public note is repeated here word for word from the updates log. A re-check is the weekly automated comparison of the recorded passages against the live page. People decide every reading; a re-check never changes one. Louisiana's issuing body does not allow automated re-checks, so this state rests on its dated reads.

No change to Louisiana's staffing rules as of October 19, 2026: one pharmacist may supervise up to 4 support people at a time, counting certified pharmacy technicians, technician candidates and pharmacy interns together, with no more than 2 candidates (La. Admin. Code tit. 46, Pt LIII, 907(A)(1) and 709(B)), and anyone credentialed by the Board still needs a rest break after more than six hours of practice (LAC 46:LIII.1107(C)). The Board's Project 2025-454, which updates Section 907's language on sterile compounding by technician candidates but does not change the ratio, is not scheduled for the October 20, 2026 Louisiana Register. The Board has scheduled a separate rule for October 20, 2026 that lowers the licensure a pharmacist needs to supervise a pharmacy intern from two years to one (LAC 46:LIII.705); it does not change the ratio.

Read in full from the issuing body's own text and recorded word for word.

No change to Louisiana's staffing rules as of October 12, 2026. One pharmacist may still supervise up to 4 support people at a time, counting certified pharmacy technicians, technician candidates and pharmacy interns together, with no more than 2 candidates (La. Admin. Code tit. 46, Pt LIII, 907(A)(1) and 709(B)), and anyone credentialed by the Board still needs a rest break after more than six hours of practice (LAC 46:LIII.1107(C)). The Board's Project 2025-454, which updates Section 907's limits on sterile compounding by technician candidates but does not change the ratio, is not among the Board rules queued for the October 20, 2026 Louisiana Register, so it is not expected to take effect on that date. A separate Board rule queued for that issue lowers the experience a pharmacist needs to supervise a pharmacy intern from two years of licensure to one (LAC 46:LIII.705); it does not change the ratio.

No change to Louisiana's staffing rules as of October 5, 2026. One pharmacist may still supervise up to 4 support people at a time, counting certified pharmacy technicians, technician candidates and pharmacy interns together, with no more than 2 candidates (La. The Board's pending Project 2025-454, which updates Section 907's limits on sterile compounding by technician candidates but does not change the ratio, has not yet been published as a final rule; the Board expects it to take effect October 20, 2026.

No change to Louisiana's staffing rules this week. One pharmacist may still supervise up to 4 support people at a time, counting certified pharmacy technicians, technician candidates and pharmacy interns together, with no more than 2 technician candidates (La. Admin. Code tit. 46, Pt LIII, 907(A)(1) and 709(B), unchanged since September 1, 2023), and anyone credentialed by the Board still needs a rest break once they have practiced longer than six hours (LAC 46:LIII.1107(C)). A Board rulemaking now in final review does amend Section 907, but only its compounding wording; the ratio sentence is untouched.

What the re-check results mean

  • Confirmed: every recorded passage was still on the issuing body’s page as served that day.
  • Mismatch: at least one passage was not found. It is reported as it stands, a person looks, and the rows after it show what followed.
  • Not allowed: the issuing body’s site does not permit automated reading, so the rule rests on its dated read, by a person where the page can only be opened in a browser.
  • Nothing to match, no baseline: the record on file held no passage the re-check can match, or no report yet qualified as its baseline.
