What is a crew-wide intern ceiling in a pharmacy staffing rule?
The intern limit applies to the whole pharmacy at one time, however many pharmacists or preceptors are on duty.
That is the sentence RxShift uses wherever it applies this mechanic, on each state’s page and in the product. The states below are the ones whose rule, as RxShift applies it, carries it; each page states the rule with its citation and the date it was last verified.

- Intern sub-cap: A separate limit on pharmacy interns, inside the overall cap.
- Preceptor required for interns: A preceptor must be on duty before any pharmacy intern may work.
- Interns outside the ratio: Pharmacy interns do not count toward the technician limit.
- Some interns outside the ratio: Pharmacy interns currently enrolled in a pharmacy school do not count toward the technician limit, and other interns do.
- Interns inside the ratio: Pharmacy interns count toward the same limit as technicians.
