The live ratio board: who can step away right now

RxShift · June 17, 2026

Released June 17, 2026.

Imagine you’re mid-shift and need to step away for a minute. Another pharmacist is on break, and the technicians are still working. Before you go, you need to know whether your location would stay in ratio without you.

On June 17, we added a wall display and a pharmacist step-away indicator to RxShift’s live ratio board. Both put that question where you can see it: on a pharmacy monitor, on the board, and beside your status buttons on your phone.

Start with who is on now

The live board shows who is currently on at each pharmacy location, grouped by role, and whether the location is in ratio. It’s intended for pharmacies where pharmacist-to-technician ratio rules apply.

Managers can change a person’s status directly from the board, such as to “on break” or “stepped away.” Each pharmacy chooses its statuses, what they’re called, and whether they count toward the ratio.

That distinction matters. A status name alone doesn’t determine how someone is counted. Your pharmacy’s settings determine whether that status counts toward the ratio.

Each location card now also shows how many pharmacists can step away while keeping the location in ratio. If there is no room for a pharmacist to leave, the card says the location is at its ratio limit and no pharmacist can step away.

A wall display for the pharmacy

Managers can open the new wall display from the live board. It’s a read-only view designed for an always-on pharmacy monitor, with large cards and the option to pin it to one location.

There are no status-change buttons or menus to work through. A full screen button lets you put the display across the monitor, while status changes remain on the live board.

The live board refreshes about every 60 seconds, and the wall display about every 30 seconds.

The step-away line on your phone

In My Schedule, pharmacists now see a line beside their status buttons indicating whether stepping away would keep the location in ratio. It appears only when the pharmacist’s current status counts toward the ratio.

If a pharmacist selects a status that would put the location out of ratio, RxShift asks for confirmation. It warns; it never blocks them.

The same day, we made RxShift’s staff side work on phones. You can add RxShift to your phone’s home screen like an app, so My Schedule is close at hand.

The same question, the same rules

“Can I step away for a minute?” shouldn’t require a separate ratio calculation. The board answers that question using the same ratio rules RxShift uses to check the schedule.

That’s the purpose of this release: show who is on, show whether there’s room to step away, and put that information where your team can see it before someone changes status.
